What kind of drug test is a DOT drug test?
If you perform safety-sensitive tasks, based on the CH (DOT), such as driving a truck, working on pipelines, operating a train, or repairing an airplane, then you are subject to a DOT drug test.
Some simple steps for using the 5 panel drug test are listed below.
- Opening: The 5 panel drug test device should be stored at temperatures between 36 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit (2 °C i 26 °C). If this is observed, the cup can be carefully removed from the packaging.
- Collection: Urine should only be placed in the open cup when you are ready to use the device. Otherwise, it should remain closed.
- Verification: Once the urine is in the cup, the temperature strips should indicate a temperature between 90 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit (32 °C i 38 °C).
- Waiting: After the urine has been introduced and the cup closed, wait at least 5 minutes. If you check the test earlier, the results will not be meaningful.
- Removal: Once the 5 minutes have passed, you can read the test results by looking at the membrane of the test strips printed on the cup itself.
- Reading: Follow the instructions for reading the test and pay attention to the strip membranes. Pay particular attention to the C and T markings.

Positive
Only one colored band appears in the control region (C). No visible colored band appears in the test region (T).
Negative
Two colored bands appear on the membrane. One band appears in the control region (C), and another band appears in the test region (T).
Invalid
The control band does not appear. Results from tests that did not produce a control band at the specified reading time must be discarded.
